Warrick County Schools (and many pre-schools) are closed on Friday, Oct. 18 for Fall Break. Celebrate at the Ohio Twp. Central Library with some messy painting fun! Drop by our Activity Room anytime between 10:00-11:30AM to do some painting – choose which activity you try or do them all. Questions? Call us at 812-853-5468, ext. 306 or e-mail email@example.com
Miss Jenny, one of our resident early literacy experts, will show parents how they can reinforce literacy skills for their young children through playing games. Kids will be actively involved in the activities, too! For this month’s activities, kids will write in shaving cream, feed an alligator letters and play a game with their name. Parents will also receive free “Activity Cards” to start their own game file of activities for home.
Play 2 Learn is Monday, Sept. 30. We start at 6:00PM and promise that you will be finished by 7:00PM, so you can still get those kids to bed on time! The activities are intended for kids, ages 2-7 and their adults.

These little gnomes will be part of our Summer Reading Program – “Dig Into Reading!” Sign-ups start on Thurs., May 23 and continue throughout the summer. Kids of all ages can participate; those who aren’t reading on their own can be read to. Reading is done at home on your own time; kids check into the Library for us to mark their reading cards and see if they pick the lucky number of the day. If they do, they win a coupon for something free-ice cream, cookies, apple slices, slushies, breadsticks. . . . . . . Keep reading all summer to earn chances to win one of the “Weekly Prizes,” a goody bag filled with more coupons for free stuff, books, gift certificates and more. Also, check out the on-line calendar
to see the tons of programs we’ll be presenting. June’s schedule is full and we’ll add more to July’s as it gets closer.
We have separate programs for teens and for adults-each with their own set of prizes. For more information on any of the programs, call the Ohio Twp. Central Library at 812-853-5468, ext. 306.
And what part will the gnomes have? You’ll have to come in and see for yourself once the Reading Program begins!
Do you have a girl who loves princesses? We have 2 great opportunities for you. On Wed., May 1, from 6:00-7:00PM, Children’s Center for Dance Education will be bringing their ballerinas to dance scenes from their upcoming “Cinderella” ballet. This is a perfect time for little kids to experience a live performance in small doses in a familiar setting. After the performance, kids are invited to visit with the ballerinas and get their pictures taken.
On Sat., May 4, at 10:00AM, the Children’s Department will be hosting their annual “Princess Party.” Girls, ages 3-8, are invited to wear their princess clothes and join us for a morning filled with princess activities. We’ll have games, crafts, snacks and (of course) a beautiful princess chair for photo taking. Don’t forget your cameras! Girls older than 8 may come 15 minutes early to find out which station they can volunteer to help out at. Questions? Call 812-854-5468, ext. 306 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org .
