Make crafts – Tues., drop in from 1:00-3:00PM, ages 3-12.

Explore gardens – Wed., 1:00PM, kids who have finished kindergarten – gr. 4

See the “Magic Gardener” magic show – Thurs., 1:00PM, ages 3-12

Tie-Dye shoelaces – Fri., drop in from 10:00-11:30AM, ages 3-12; we have all the supplies

Pirates! Live Animals! Dinosaurs! Oh My!

This week is the hottest week of the summer so far – stop by our cool Ohio Twp. Central Library and enjoy some special programs:

Wed., June 12, 1:00PM – Explorer’s Club will explore pirates, with stories, games and crafts. Kids must have finished Kindergarten to attend this program.
Thursday, June 13, 1:00PM – Silly Safari’s Coyote Chris will bring all kinds of animals to visit with us. Will he bring a snake, too? Ages 3-12 invited.
Friday, June 14, drop in from 10:00-11:30AM – Dinosaur Dig! We will have tons of games, crafts and other dinosaur activities for you to try out. We’ll have them all in our Children’s Department. Kids, ages 3-12 are invited to attend.

Tuesday, June 4 – Drop by the Activity Room to make a craft between 1:00-3:00PM, ages 3-12.

Wednesday, June 5 – Explorer’s Club Learns About Worms, 1:00PM, gr. 1-4.

Thursday, June 6 – Animal Tales Live Reptile Show, 1:00PM, ages 3-12.

Friday, June 7 – MapCap Puppets present life-sized puppets in “The Cinderella Files,” 10:00AM, all ages.

Sneak Preview of Summer Reading 2013

These little gnomes will be part of our Summer Reading Program – “Dig Into Reading!” Sign-ups start on Thurs., May 23 and continue throughout the summer. Kids of all ages can participate; those who aren’t reading on their own can be read to. Reading is done at home on your own time; kids check into the Library for us to mark their reading cards and see if they pick the lucky number of the day. If they do, they win a coupon for something free-ice cream, cookies, apple slices, slushies, breadsticks. . . . . . . Keep reading all summer to earn chances to win one of the “Weekly Prizes,” a goody bag filled with more coupons for free stuff, books, gift certificates and more. to see the tons of programs we’ll be presenting. June’s schedule is full and we’ll add more to July’s as it gets closer.

Princesses at the Library

Do you have a girl who loves princesses? We have 2 great opportunities for you. On Wed., May 1, from 6:00-7:00PM, Children’s Center for Dance Education will be bringing their ballerinas to dance scenes from their upcoming “Cinderella” ballet. This is a perfect time for little kids to experience a live performance in small doses in a familiar setting. After the performance, kids are invited to visit with the ballerinas and get their pictures taken.

On Sat., May 4, at 10:00AM, the Children’s Department will be hosting their annual “Princess Party.” Girls, ages 3-8, are invited to wear their princess clothes and join us for a morning filled with princess activities. We’ll have games, crafts, snacks and (of course) a beautiful princess chair for photo taking. Don’t forget your cameras! Play Day at the Library

Little tiny change of plans – since Mother Nature will not cooperate with us, our outside Play Day at the Library on Friday morning will be an inside Play Day at the Library! We’ve had to adjust a few of our activities, but we’ll still have tons of fun stuff to keep your kiddos entertained on a cool, too-wet-to-play outside morning. No registration needed – just show up at the Ohio Twp. Central Children’s Room anytime between 9:30-11:30AM to play, play, play! Questions? Spring Break Specials

The calendar tells us that it is Spring, although the weather doesn’t. We have lots of specials for the kids to do in our nice, warm Activity Room at Ohio Twp. Central Library. None of them require registration and they are all suitable for ages 2 and up. Come by to try out our activities!

Creative Kids Craft Program-Tues., Mar. 26, drop in from 1:00-3:00PM. (NOTE time change, due to Spring Break.)
Egg Art-Wed., Mar. 27, drop in from 1:00-3:00PM. Decorate eggs for Easter!
Left-Over Craft Day-Thurs., Mar. 28, drop in from 1:00-3:00PM. Help us clean out the left-over crafts in our closet.
Puppet Show and Craft-Fri., Mar. 29, 10:00AM, all ages. Puppet Show in the Clubhouse, followed by craft in the Activity Room.

Play With Paint

Kids, ages 18 months and up, are invited to join us in our Ohio Twp. Central Library’s Activity Room to paint. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, doesn’t it? The joy of it is that your kids will have a blast creating painted messes (oops, I mean pictures) and you won’t have to clean it up! We’ll provide disposable paint smocks and use washable paints. Drop by anytime from 9:30-11:30AM.

Music and Movement is this Friday!

How many of you have said “These kids just need to get rid of some energy?” this week. Here is your chance - Central Children’s Department will be hosting our monthly “Music and Movement” program this Friday, Feb. 8, from 10:00-10:30ish. Kids, ages 18 months-6 years, and their adults are invited to attend. We’ll sing, dance, jump up and down and play with the parachute. Adults get to do all that stuff, too, so they can get rid of some energy. No registration is necessary-just come on in!
